Special Schools

Special educational needs include:

  • physical difficulties, such as hearing impairments and problems with physical mobility
  • autism spectrum disorders
  • behavioural, emotional and social difficulties
  • speech, language and communication needs and dyslexia
  • moderate learning difficulties

Stimulating learning environments help children with special education needs as much as - if not more than - children in mainstream education.

That is why six new special schools and a hearing impaired unit will be built around the Bradford district. These new schools will replace ten existing schools and will be located on the same site as the mainstream schools. They will also share some facilities.

Multi-campus education is an arrangement that makes it possible for children with moderate learning difficulties to remain in mainstream schools. For special school students, it is an excellent way to boost their self-esteem and learning potential. The new schools will offer some special facilities to help special needs students, such as:

All this means better education - and better lives - for special education students.
